Using epoxy adhesives effectively involves preparation, precision, and patience. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you achieve the best results:

What you will need:

• EVO-STIK epoxy adhesive: Rapid Tubes or Rapid Syringe
• Mixing tray or clean disposable surface (for epoxies that require manual mixing)
• Spatula or disposable stick (for mixing)
• Applicator (spatula or syringe)
• Cleaning materials (like acetone or methylated spirits)

Optional:

• Protective gloves and safety goggles

Clean the surfaces to be bonded. Remove dirt, grease, or oil using a degreaser or alcohol. 

Sand rough or shiny surfaces for better adhesion, then wipe away the dust.

IMPORTANT: Follow the individual product instructions or technical data sheet as application will vary depending upon the type of epoxy you've selected.

Dispense your epoxy adhesive onto a clean, disposable surface or the tray provided. Reseal your tubes or syringe as soon as possible. Then, stir the adhesive thoroughly for at least 45 seconds using a spatula or similar tool to achieve a uniform mixture. Use within 2 minutes.
 

Spread the epoxy evenly to both surfaces of the joint using an applicator tool to ensure precision and avoid excess mess.

Press the surfaces together and hold them in place until set using clamps or tape for approximately 10 minutes.

Let the epoxy cure as per the specified time - approximately 30 minutes for both types of the EVO-STIK epoxy adhesives.

Good to know: Setting times may be shorter in hot weather. In cold conditions the rate of curing of the mixed adhesive may be slowed down significantly and weak joints may result. Best results are achieved between 20°C to 25°C.

Avoid moving or stressing the bond during this period to ensure a strong, durable bond.

Wipe away excess adhesive before it cures using acetone or methylated spirits.

Dispose of leftover mixed epoxy and tools responsibly.

Need to remove cured epoxy adhesive? Cured adhesive residues can usually be dissolved from tools by soaking in commercial paint stripper. Refer to the paint stripper manufacturer’s instructions for use and safe handling. Assess a small trial area before general work.
